Mixing Update

We have begun mixing on our three demo tracks. They are Artful Dodger, Least of These and The Pound. Hopefully the mixes will be done in the next week and then they will be mastered.

We recorded!

Bart officially laid down drum tracks for 11 songs. He's surpassed us all in one night. Now we will be focusing on mixing 3 songs for our upcoming demo release. The three songs are:

Artful Dodger
Least of These
The Pound

Once those are done, we will continue to record and mix the other songs. Here are some pictures from the session:

Rescheduled...

Mike from the Wall Studio called us this morning and apologized for his absence. We have rescheduled the recording for Tuesday night the 21st of December. He said he "would make it up to us." We'll see what that means.

They left us hanging....

Well, we showed up at 5:45pm for our 6:00 appointment to record at the Wall. The problem is - the owner/engineer didn't. We waited for over an hour. So we left a message on their phone and went home. The other problem is that I took the day off to do this, and we worked pretty hard preparing for this night. Oh well.

Here's what it looked like...pretty grim don't you think?

Third time's the charm

I posted this article on my other blog - first pictures of the next baby on the way! check it out. (to see the article, click on the title of this post - that links to it.)

Blog Facelift

OK, so we got tired of the white background. A few minor improvements and enhancements after hours of digging thru code to get the SKBlog to look more like how we want it. More to come as we get the graphics rolling...

Honorable Mention

Just had to mention this really cool software: Delicious Library It is amazing software that lets you scan the barcodes of music cd's, dvd's, games and more with your iSight camera to organize your library of items. You can then check them out to people and actually keep track of who has your stuff! We at system-kid can't wait until our CD is scannable into the Delicious Library!

Out With the Old...

We are setting up a new computer for recording right now. It's a Mac G4 with lots of goodies. If you want more specifics, email Evan here. Let's just say the iMac G4 won't cut it anymore with only 256 MB of RAM - and since it's a loaner from Cal Poly, we're not paying to upgrade it. It's done well so far, but all things must pass. Thanks to Newegg.com for the dvd burner, hard drive and mouse, thanks to Macsales.com for the processor upgrade and video upgrade, and a special thanks to Bob M. at bobm.net for the Airport wireless card.

So here's the track count so far:

Evan - 7 tracks recorded
Ray - 6 tracks recorded
Jared - 5 tracks recorded
Bart - 0 tracks recorded

The thing is - it's really hard to record drums here at Clerestory Studios. Not only is it expensive - but there is a science to it - and we'd rather write songs anyway. So Bart and the rest of us are going to The Wall studio here in Rancho Cucamonga to record his tracks on December 18th. Wish us luck!

Say Cheese!

We are talking with world famous photographer Michael Rodriguez of ComradeHQ about images and photographs for the development of our press kit. He also happens to be Ray's brother. I think that has worked out well for us :)

We'll let you know when we come up with something for a concept.

A Half Dozen

We have been recording here at Clerestory Studios (Evan's garage) for the past few weeks and will be going to a "real" studio in a week or two to record Bart's drum tracks. Then, we mix everything together and get it mastered. So far, the songs in the lineup are:

Least of These
The Pound
Carry On
Wanderlust
Artful Dodger
Blue Blazes

That's it for now.

Get the demo out already!

We are currently recording songs for our upcoming demo release. we have been working on several songs - we're still not sure which ones will make the cut. we will make the songs available here for you to download as soon as they are ready.
