two down, one to go

thanks everyone for coming to the first two shows of ours this week. we had a blast playing for the System Kid faithful, as well as the new listeners out there. here's a rundown of the two shows so far this week:

babylon:
this place is a mediterranean restaraunt and hookah bar in riverside. when we got there, contrary to information given to the other band that set up the gig, there was no PA system. they were scrambling to set something up. needless to say, we started playing at about 9:45 instead of 9:00. there were a few technical difficulties during the show - the mic kept cutting out on jared and his piano didn't come through sometimes, but overall, it went smootly when all was said and done. thanks to jeremy who fiddled with the mic until it worked!

the best thing we heard was: "if i would have known you guys were this good, i would have brought more people!" cool, and thanks. hopefully next time!

flipside:
as ray and evan scrambled to get there after work, jared and bart were busy setting up inside. we were the second band to go on the stage immediately after Phoenix Effect. they rocked and after about 4 songs tore down and we set up. after the quickest sound check ever, we started the 'storytellers' version of our set and played 5 songs. we had a great response from the audience and thanks to everyone who came to see us. we quickly tore our stuff down and got out of the way for Done In Secret who followed after us.

now we get ready for the battle of the bands that happens on saturday night in hemet. check out our shows page to see where and what we will be playing.

anyone planning on going to support us?

zero gravity water balloons

ok, so this post is here just because of how cool this is. who says you can't have fun when you're a nasa scientist?

rss feed

if you know what this is, you might be interested. if not, read any way:

many people are now using RSS readers (a way to read the latest news/blog entry on a web site) for viewing the news/blogs they read every day. you can do this in some web browsers (firefox supports it now, safari will as of this friday, april 29th). the reason you might be interested in doing this is so you can have all of the news/blog headlines in one program at one time. you view the headlines, and if one interests you, click on it. that will then take you to the website to view the entire article. tons of web sites are supplying RSS feeds for you to link to. believe us, it's great.

there are other dedicated RSS newsreader programs out there too. even cell phones and web-enabled pda's can read these files. so here is our address:

http://www.system-kid.com/rss/atom.xml

you should copy and paste that address into the RSS newsreader program of your choice.

here are some links to our favorite RSS newsreaders for you to download for your computer:

macintosh: http://ranchero.com/
windows: http://www.rssowl.org/

one more way we get the latest news to you first - thanks for reading!

set lists are up

the set lists have been posted for the next 3 shows. get them on the shows page.

a new place for our blog

well, hopefully everyone that reads this has realized the location of the blog on our site has changed. it is now the first page on the site, which makes sense because we wanted you to be able to get the latest information first! so update your bookmarks to reflect the change. here is the new bookmark address for the blog:
