v-day to me is a double-edged sword. on the one hand, it is a retail-driven scam that has turned into another shopping-centered "holiday." on the other hand, it is a nice reminder to reach out and show someone special to you that you care for them. i definitely don't think it is any one's job to initiate the giving - the responsibility is in both person's hands.in japan, they celebrate 2 valentine's days. the first one, today, the male treats the female. in a month, the female treats the male. seems fair to me.
