tennis

Last Sunday I went to the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, CA. It is just past Palm Springs. It was the first time I've been to a tennis tournament (not including playing in them). It was really fun and I'll definitely try to go again next year. It was crowded and had a festival type feeling to the tournament.

I got to see Nadal, Hingis and Agassi (my personal favorite) win against their competitors in the main stadium court. Agassi's was by far my favorite match to watch. I always try to catch him when he's on TV in a match, so seeing him in person was really cool.

It was out of character for him, but at one point he got really angry and smashed his raquet onto the ground and broke it. Leighton was surprised, and so was I. Everyone was dead silent during the following point which, when Agassi won it, the crowd erupted in applause. I guess tennis needs it's outbursts too. It makes the game more fun to watch. It makes for more tension.

I miss John McEnroe playing the game. He made it worth watching with his tantrums and yelling, outbursts and name-calling. We need more bad boys in tennis. And bad girls for that matter.
