$10,000 per page

I thought this linked article is right on. The premise is that each page in a web site really costs $10,000. My personal experience shows that people are totally unwilling to put money behind their marketing ideas. They usually have their second cousin's nephew design their web site for $200. This ends up costing the company more money in the long run.

I once had an "almost client" that was the now-famous actress Kelly Hu (X2, The Scorpion King). She wanted her first web site done to promote herself and her acting career. I never talked to her. I talked to this guy who represented her. We talked about what kind of look the web site should have and what the content would be.

Let's cut to the chase.

They were willing to pay me $200. It would be "a career starter" for me. That's the point where I mentioned they could go get their second cousin's nephew to do it. The funny thing is - I think they did. It was a terrible site. You get what you pay for, as the article says.

Holy shit. Have you even seen your second cousin's nephew's MySpace page?
