this is what you get

one of System Kid's songs off the upcoming Stampede EP was played on local radio last night and...um...it sounded good.

art with a capital F

it's not too often that a great artist finds his or her way to the top through lots of hard work and bit of luck. persistence has paid off. i now link you to it. have fun.

oh, and there's always chuck norris that paved the way.

the music show

lately system kid has been writing some new tunes which will most likely make it into the lineup this saturday night at the Viper Room show. we've been playing quite a few shows lately. tonight i have the treat of getting to go to a Supergrass show and just being a fan in the audience. it should be really fun - they are a great band.

i'm so excited
and i just can't hide it
i'm about to lose control and i think i like it

no, that isn't a supergrass song, but i think it's appropriate.

swindled

v-day to me is a double-edged sword. on the one hand, it is a retail-driven scam that has turned into another shopping-centered "holiday." on the other hand, it is a nice reminder to reach out and show someone special to you that you care for them. i definitely don't think it is any one's job to initiate the giving - the responsibility is in both person's hands.

in japan, they celebrate 2 valentine's days. the first one, today, the male treats the female. in a month, the female treats the male. seems fair to me.

a very cool exercise in projection painting in a space:

Pop's funeral

Rita's grandfather Pop passed away one week ago today. We attended the funeral and Jared came along to sing Amazing Grace. He did a wonderful job. The veterans did the rifle salute and he was given a veteran's burial. He was also a member of the Mason's so that was a big part of the ceremony. It was interesting to see all of the traditions that go along with a funeral ceremony. Everything is very deliberate and there is definitely lots of time taken to do everything exactly as the tradition has been set.

The death was unexpected so it hit the family pretty hard.

new kicks

got some. slip on Vans. q-bert style. 3d checkerboard pattern.

update:

haircut

finally. it's been about 6 months i think. i honestly can't remember the last time i had my frock chopped. i had about 2 to 3 inches taken off all around. it was looking funky on day one (the day of the shower) and so-so on day 2, so it was time for a change. don't turn this into a daily shower debate - when i'm not particularly active, it just doesn't make sense when there's so much else to do.

high density housing

in a previous post, i ranted about cookie cutter homes in Rancho Cucamonga, which seems to be the new Orange County, and how design has been thrown out the window in a trade for mediocrity and consumerism. today i found an image that makes me... hurl, if you will.

Check this out.

I wonder what happens in an earthquake. no.. wait... i know what happens... you DIE.
